The captivating seacoast community of South Hampton was founded in 1742 when the New Hampshire-Massachusetts border was established. The territory that was originally made up of Amesbury and Salisbury eventually became part of New Hampshire. Today, South Hampton is a charming small town occupied by approximately 814 residents. The town is also home to Cowden State Forest and Powwow River State Forest.
